LYRICS FOR NURSING HOME CAROLING VISIT

Jingle Bells

Dashing through the snow – in a one-horse open sleigh,

Over the fields we go – laughing all the way.

Bells on bob-tail ring – making spirits bright,

What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight.

(Chorus:)

Jingle bells – jingle bells – jingle all the way!

Oh what fun – it is to ride – in a one-horse open sleigh – Hey!

Jingle bells – jingle bells – jingle all the way!

Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh!

Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer

Rudolf, the red-nosed reindeer – had a very shiny nose.

And if you ever saw him – you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer – used to laugh and call him names.

They never let poor Rudolf – play in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas eve – Santa came to say:

“Rudolf with your nose so bright – won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then all the reindeer loved him – as they shouted out with glee.

“Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer – you’ll go down in history!”

Silent Night

Silent night, holy night – All is calm, all is bright

Round yon virgin mother and child – Holy infant so tender and mild,

Sleep in heavenly peace – Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night – Shepherds quake at the sight,

Glories stream from heaven afar – Heavenly hosts sing alleluia;

Christ the Savior, is born – Christ the Savior, is born!

Silent night, holy night – Son of God, love’s pure light

Radiant beams from thy holy face – With the dawn of redeeming grace,

Jesus, Lord, at thy birth – Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

Over the River and Through the Woods

Over the river and through the woods – To Grandmother’s house we go.

The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh – Through white and drifted snow.

Over the river and through the woods – Oh, how the wind does blow.

It stings the toes and bites the nose – As over the ground we go.

Over the river and through the woods – Now Grandma’s cap I spy.

Hurrah for fun; the pudding’s done, – Hurrah for the pumpkin pie.

Away in a Manger

Away in a manger – no crib for his bed,

The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.

The stars in the bright sky – looked down where he lay,

The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing – the baby awakes,

But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.

I love thee, Lord Jesus – Look down from the sky,

And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Joy to the World

Joy to the world! The Lord is come; Let earth receive her King;

Let every heart…prepare Him room,

And heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing,

And heaven, and heaven…and nature sing.

Joy to the earth! The Savior reigns; Let men their songs employ;

While fields and floods,

Rocks, hills and plains

Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy,

Repeat, repeat…the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow; nor thorns infest the ground;

He comes to make….His blessing flow

Far as the curse is found, far as the curse is found,

Far as, far as…the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace; and makes the nations prove

The glories of….His righteousness,

And wonders of His love, and wonders of His love, and wonders, wonders…of His love.

Here Comes Santa Claus

Here comes Santa Claus!

Here comes Santa Claus!

Right down Santa Claus Lane!

Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer

Are pulling on the reins.

Bells are ringing, children singing;

All is merry and bright.

Hang your stockings and say your prayers,

‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

Here comes Santa Claus!

Here comes Santa Claus!

Right down Santa Claus Lane!

He’s got a bag that is filled with toys

For the boys and girls again.

Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle,

What a beautiful sight.

Jump in bed, cover up your head,

‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

Holly Jolly Christmas

Have a holly, jolly Christmas – It’s the best time of the year,

I don’t know if there’ll be snow – but have a cup of cheer.

Have a holly, jolly Christmas – and when you walk down the street,

Say Hello to friends you know, and everyone you meet.

Oh, ho, the mistletoe – hung where you can see;

Somebody waits for you; – Kiss her once for me.

Have a holly jolly Christmas, – and in case you didn’t hear,

Oh by golly, have a holly jolly Christmas, this year.

Frosty the Snow Man

Frosty the snowman – was a jolly, happy soul,

With a corncob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal

Frosty the snowman – is a fairy tale they say,

He was made of snow – but the children know – how he came to life one day

There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found,

For when they placed it on his head he began to dance around.

O Frosty the snowman – was alive as he could be,

And the children say – he could laugh and play – just the same as you and me.

Thumpetty thump thump – thumpety thump thump – Look at Frosty go.

Thumpetty thump thump – thumpety thump thump – Over the hills of snow.

Frosty the snowman knew – the sun was hot that day,

So he said, “Let’s run – and we’ll have some fun – now before I melt away”

Down to the village – with a broomstick in his hand,

Running here and there – all around the square saying. “Catch me if you can.”

He led them down the streets of town right to the traffic cop,

And he only paused a moment when he heard him holler “Stop!”

For Frosty the snowman, – had to hurry on his way….

But he waved goodbye – saying “Don’t you cry – I’ll be back again some day”

Thumpetty thump thump  –  thumpety thump thump  –  Look at Frosty go.

Thumpetty thump thump  –  thumpety thump thump  –  Over the hills of snow.

Dreidel Song

I have a little dreidel – I made it out of clay.

And when it’s dry and ready – Oh dreidel I shall play.

(Chorus:) Oh dreidel – dreidel – dreidel – I made it out of clay.

And when it’s dry and ready – Then dreidel I shall play.

It has a lovely body – With legs so short and thin.

And when it gets all tired – It drops and then I win.

(Chorus:) Oh dreidel – dreidel – dreidel – I made it out of clay.

And when it’s dry and ready – Then dreidel I shall play.

My dreidel’s always playful – It loves to dance and spin.

A happy game of dreidel – Come play, now let’s begin.

(Chorus:) Oh dreidel – dreidel – dreidel – I made it out of clay.

And when it’s dry and ready – Then dreidel I shall play.
